Optometrist                 Duties and Responsibilities: Optometrists typically do the following: Perform vision tests and analyze results. Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases, such as glaucoma. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.

Education/Demands or Need for this profession: Aspiring optometrists must complete a four-year post-baccalaureate Doctor of Optometry degree program. This program of study is designed to provide individuals with the skills needed to gain licensure as optometrists.
